Is mediation for everybody?
Divorce is a very emotional process for many couples who make the decision that their marriage is no longer as strong as it once was. When considering divorce, there are a number of options that the couple has as to what type of divorce they want to obtain. Some divorces go through the New Jersey court system while others take place in a conference room. Mediation is a generally more peaceful method of divorce and a lot of times, the couple walks away with a better opinion about each other than they did when they first began the mediation sessions.
As great as a peaceful divorce sounds, mediation is not for everybody. Both parties have to be able to work together and have a lot of productive conversation in order to find success through this method of divorce. Though it sounds simple enough, the reality is that many times, couples can’t stand to work together and make decisions regarding the future when their marriage is dissolving. Divorce is emotional and can be very difficult for those involved. However, if you and your spouse are both willing to be respectful of one another and compromise on a variety of difficult factors, you may find a lot of success through a mediated divorce. Mediation can be less expensive, more efficient, and usually allows you to stay out of court.
