Toby Grabelle, Esq.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Toby has been a Monmouth County resident for over 45 years. A graduate of Monmouth University, she received her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law, Newark, 1982. Toby then served as a law clerk to the Honorable Florence R. Peskoe, Presiding Judge of the Family Part. She was a principle in a law firm practicing family law for 23 years before forming Grabelle & Staufenberg, LLC in 2005 and currently The Law Office of Toby Grabelle, LLC.
Actively involved in the Family Law Committees, as well as other Bar Association and community activities, Toby was President of the Monmouth Bar Association from May 2001 to May 2002. She feels her long-time service to the Bar Association serves her clients’ interest as well as the organization’s. The many committees she has served on include: Judicial Evaluation and Reappointment Committee; Judicial Appointments Committee; Judicial Selection Committee; Supreme Court Task Force on Alternate Dispute Resolution Monmouth County Review Committee; District IX Ethics Committee; Legal Aid Society (Trustee 1987-present); Monmouth Bar Foundation Secretary (1986 –present); President Women Lawyers in Monmouth; Family Law Committee of the Monmouth Bar Association; Family Law Committee Monmouth County (Chair 1987-1989); Monmouth Vicinage Early Settlement Panel; and finally, New Jersey State Bar Association and American Bar Association (member 1983-present).
In addition, since 2001, Toby has been a Certified Family Law Mediator for Family Law Cases. After training for mediation she has a deep respect for the mediation process. She has seen its benefits as both the mediator and as the attorney representing someone participating in formal mediation.

Toby received the Women Lawyers in Monmouth Achievement Award in 2000 and the Monmouth Bar Association Family Law Committee award in January 2004. She was also named one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business in 2008.
When not focused on her practice, Toby enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren, four children, son-in-laws, daughter-in-law, and her husband. She spends most of her vacations hiking and traveling around the world. She has used her photography skills to capture treasured moments from her travels to such places as India, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and Antarctica. After completing her training in 2004, Toby became a member of the Tinton Falls Community Emergency Response Team, and, in both 2003 and 2004 was one of the top ten fundraisers walking for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York. In 2005, Toby was one of 5 finalists in the Greater Women of Central New Jersey competition. She is Second Vice Chair Trustee for the Monmouth County Children’s Advocacy Center.
Toby is a dedicated and experienced litigator, whose practice has always been solely devoted to family law. She brings both a sense of balance and compassion to negotiations on behalf of her clients.
